[edit]Absolutely, positively, unequivocably a TEMPTATIONS fanatic, and one time kid who idolized all of them as the ultimate role models, I was greatly disturbed to learn from your biographical on them, to learn that Otis and (???) Melvin, banded against Paul (in time of illness). And definitely not Melvin. Eddie Kendricks and Melvin Franklin, were the perfect singers, to me, and were just too infallible to do anything wrong. I was greatly saddened when Eddie left the group, but I always knew he was near, in the event that they would need him, or ready for the inevitable 'reunion.'
Both Eddie and Melvin had their distinguished smiles. Eddie, the lead, and charismatic; and Melvin, that happy minded guy whom all the TV hosts enjoyed asking that simple question, just to get that deep voice response. And every time Melvin spoke it gave me thrills. And every time Eddie spoke, that smile was just so enlightening. It was almost like he just had that 'country (Bama') kindness' that he couldnt hide.
Eddie, and its "...You better leeeeeeeeeeave..you better leeave..the Jones alone.............." or "...Its Summerrrr...ooooohoooooo!"
Im just saddened to learn that Melvin had such emotions. I always had my reservations about the Otis guy...and the story behind the "Superstar" hit (remember how you got where you are) was also a bit disturbing, since that was one of my favorite songs.
All my life, I have learned and sang all the songs of the Temptations, and even more fascinating, have developed my voice to sing Eddie's as well as Melvin's parts. And I loved those guys as if they were immediate family. And when Eddie came out with "Keep on' truckin'" I was just as happy as he was, more with the success of the hit, as well as the existence (of the hit). Because Eddie Kendricks was role model and idol. he is awsome Ironically, I'm 46 years old, and never got the opportunity of hearing them in person. Its kind of an emotional thing. I could not imagine seeing them, in their non original positions. And because of the reality of "studio edification" my other fear, was the fear that they would not be consistent with the image of perfection which I had built up.
Yes, Eddie Kendricks was one of the rare perfections at his trade--he and Melvin (Franklin). 207.69.137.24 20:44, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
- Otis and Melvin were at odds with Eddie, not Paul. Let me clarify that. Also, if you've never done so, you should definitely see the Temptations movie and read Otis' Temptations biography. I really wished that a Temptation besides Otis had written memoirs for use as references (Richard Street is said to be working on his -- I hope he completes them), becasue I'd really like to hear the story from the other side(s) of the coin. According to Otis, however, Melvin wasn't mean-spirited; his and Otis' disagreements with Eddie were about group and record-label politics, and, according to Otis, Melvin was always trying to mend both sides of the argument (the fight was primarily between Otis and Eddie, although Melvin once got into a fist fight with Eddie by himself over related issues). --FuriousFreddy 02:49, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
Children?
[edit]I know Eddie Kendricks had at least two children. Does anyone have any more concrete information? --FuriousFreddy 03:00, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Since Wikipedia is replete with errors, allow me to point out one more: To write that Eddie Kendricks had his first and only Number One Hit is an Oxymoron.
To use First, is to imply a Second; therefore, the correction was made to: his only Number One Hit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.244.188.131 (talk) 21:39, 28 June 2008 (UTC) --72.213.54.110 (talk) 20:07, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
