Size of Mumbai economy

[edit]

Tax collection does not represent the size of an economy. The point for collection of tax is often the location of the principal office, but economic activity could be in various locations. Taken to extremes, if every company in India has operations all over India and the principal office in Mumbai, Mumbai may account for 100% of the tax collected but not 100% of the Indian economy! Mumbai is rich

In a discussion about the economy of Mumbai, it is more important to present the GDP of the Mumbai region. Mumbai plus its hinterland region would account for approximately 6% of the Indian economy. See http://www.financialexpress.com/news/gdp-growth-surat-fastest-mumbai-largest/266636/ for more information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.164.207.154 (talk) 10:54, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mate you sure that mumbai has only 400 billion PPP ???

[edit]

India's PPP is 10 trillion USD and mumbai being one of the top cities in India must have atleast 800 billion PPP since mumbai is the richest city in India (nomial)

Even Jakarta has PPP of 650 billion. Kichawww (talk) 03:03, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The nominal GDP per capita figures are wrong and incorrectly sourced

[edit]

The article claims that Mumbai's nominal GDP per capita is around 11200 USD which is far above comparable cities like Delhi whose GSDP per capita is provided by MOSPI and RBI since it is also a state. The cited sources also do not claim anywhere that the GDP per capita is actually 11200. Ymohanty (talk) 06:28, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
