Economy of Iran - Request for Comments

This article has reached a mature stage i think. Feel free to share your comments on the economy of Iran's talk page so as to improve the project further. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.116.251.98 (talk) 17:06, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

I think the article of Iran and the one that you mention, the economy of Iran, are good articles. Perhaps the article about Iran could be futured on the frontpage? Or marked as a good article..? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.108.213.231 (talk) 20:47, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
I agree that may be Iran could be considered for featured status. External links need to be cleaned up though. See WP:links. See also other FA for comparison in this regard. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.116.251.98 (talk) 21:42, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Lead

I proposed the lead start with a very short, basic outline of the Iranian economy, something like:

The Iranian economy is currently dominated by oil exports which constituted 40-50% of government revenue and 80% of export earnings as of 2003 (more up-to-date numbers would be better of course). It has a large public sector, with an estimated at 60% of the economy directly controlled and centrally planned by the state.[1] A unique feature of Iran's economy is the large size of the religious foundations, or Bonyads, which make up something like 10%-20% of the economy by one estimate[2], and whose combined budgets are said to make up as much as half that of the central government.[3]

I think it is a good idea. One thing I am not so sure about is stressing the role of bonyads so much (half of the lead as you have written it). I can move (some of ?) the rest to the macro economic section. What about the subsidies in the government's budget? ($100 billion according to latest estimates)[1] SSZ (talk)

Iran Air Picture

What does Iran Air or it's airplanes have to do with Foreign Investments? Iran Air is a state owned and funded organisation, with all of its assets purchased through government funds. Using the picture of an Iran Air boeing with incorrect captions as seen on the article, falsely implies that foreign investment has somehow provided airplanes or better airplanes to Iran. Please use a better picture, or change the caption to match the picture. --91.106.51.90 (talk) 22:46, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Infobox

I added a new entry in table for foreign reserves but it does not show on the page. Could some one make it appear please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.30.202.21 (talk) 22:26, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
