Article

[edit]

This article should have focused on pre-1949/1945 China. Post-1949 materials should be moved to economy of the People's Republic of China. — Instantnood 19:17, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. Generally, Economy of X articles focus on the present state of the economy. Almost all of the Economic history of X articles include information on their respective countries up to the present. Also, this article is long in itself, moving it to Economy of the People's Republic of China would make that article unwieldy.--Bkwillwm 22:08, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
First, this article should not be focusing on post-1949 economic history only (the pre-1949 section is too brief). Second, China = PRC is not a NPOV. — Instantnood 01:13, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I want to learn about.....

[edit]

Ok well i know that , that is some economics but i want to know what kind of work and businesses they have in China.Im not trying to get information on how the war ended in China, maybe later, but right i need the information on what kind of businesses the Chinese used to run and what they run right now.--_!DecemberDeaths!_ —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.35.10.69 (talk) 02:42, 13 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

FDI

[edit]

Why is the role of foreign investment almost totally ignored in this article? Considering that 60% of exports are by foreign-invested enterprises, it seems that it should have some recognition. DOR (HK) (talk) 04:01, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article is a mess

[edit]

I'm sorry, but it only goes up to 1987 and it is rambling all over the place. If I'm going to revamp this article like I did Economic history of China, I'm going to have to delete almost all of the info after the first section. Oh my god. And this article does not have a single citation. Teeninvestor (talk) 22:10, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I needed some info on this subject and this article is not on a par with your work. --Triwbe (talk) 17:28, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Still doesn't have a single citation. I normally use Wikipedia as a starting point for research and then follow through citations in order to get detailed information (and so I have a source to cite), but I still can't find any.

Move discussion in progress

[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress which affects this page. Please participate at Talk:Economic history of modern China - Requested move and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RM bot 20:00, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Due to the move, I removed much of the text at Economic history of China (1912–1949), see http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Economic_history_of_China_%281912%E2%80%931949%29&diff=485267415&oldid=485263322. Someone may want to reinsert it here instead.--Jiang (talk) 02:07, 3 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Further reading section - is it necessary?

[edit]

Is this section necessary? I tend to think that if a text is significant, we ought to cite it in the article body.

This list struck me as indiscriminate with the sole exception of the Naughton text. Obviously Naughton is a significant scholar in this area, but the listed text was already cited in the body. JArthur1984 (talk) 14:48, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Adding to this, I like the library resources box in this section. JArthur1984 (talk) 14:49, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I removed it. If anyone would like, we can discuss how to be discriminate in our selection. But as noted I favor simply citing the important works directly. JArthur1984 (talk) 18:34, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
