I'm reading Bethge's "Dietrich Bonhoeffer: A Biography" and I have some questions: 1. How does Bethge's biography compare to other German 20th century biographies of theologians? I am new to this kind of writing. 2. Is it common, for instance, for German biographers to lapse into all manner of reviews and discussions of the subject's written works as Bethge does?
