It seems off that the last few seasons are presented first, and then there's a History section. Is somebody trying to magnify himself, or a friend?--Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 13:17, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think doing that makes sense because the "History" section is A) very generalized and B) goes back to the start of the program. The last few seasons are presented in detail to give people an in depth knowledge of how the last few years have gone. The two sections are very different, and should be kept separate. I think which is first, and which is second, is a debate of semantics - if someone would like to switch their order I have no objection. Speaking as the individual who contributed the vast majority of the season descriptions, its nothing about "magnification". Its just what Wikipedia is about: sharing your take on the facts with other people who want to know.

On another topic, does it make sense to continually duplicate information on this page with a separate article for each season? Especially for a team that doesn't have a large fan base as compared to many Division I teams? Where is the line drawn? Do high school teams deserve a separate article for each season? I don't think so. I think the line should be drawn at major college teams, like Michigan, Texas, Florida, Notre Dame, etc. Maybe it would make more sense to just copy what is currently in the 2010 season article (in a more abbreviated form) here.

Finally, is "disastrous" the right word to describe the '09 season? (this is on the 2010 season article) Seems a bit harsh. Not all 0-12 seasons are disastrous. If you look at the facts, they played well for 6 out of 8 quarters against Northwestern and Michigan. They really should have defeated Ball State, and were close against Akron too. Its not like they lost every game by 20 points. Ypsidan (talk) 15:19, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, I'd argue that 0-12, with 10 double-digit losses and 6 20+ point losses is pretty disastrous, but if you disagree, feel free to change it. As to the presentation of the recent seasons, I'd actually lean towards incorporating small (very small) amounts of it into the sections on Genyk and English, and eliminating the rest from this article. That's exactly the reason we have the season articles: to go into a level of details which, if applied consistently across the program's history, would render this (main) article enormous. The main article should present a summary of the program as a whole, across its entire history. cmadler (talk) 16:45, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Maybe "disastrous" could go in better context though -- the defense, especially the run defense, was disastrous, and English aknowledged as much, and that's the point that's most relevant to the assistant coach changes, particularly defensive coordinator. cmadler (talk) 16:47, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
