Adjacent suburbs

In terms of adding adjacent suburbs to the infobox, it is not entirely straightforward what suburb is to the north and north-east, because the official suburb boundaries of Innisfail extends east including the section of the Johnstone River that lies between East Innisfail and Innisfail Estate (and I have no clue why this is). So if you look at the precise boundaries using Qld Globe, East Innisfail does not share a boundary with Innisfail Estate, and therefore isn't adjacent. However, if you look at other maps that just labels the suburbs without showing the precise boundaries, most people are probably likely to think that Innisfail Estate is to the north and north-east of East Innisfail because it is "just north and north-east across the river", not suspecting the river is an extension of the suburb of Innisfail (and indeed normally the boundary of suburbs separated by the river runs along either one bank or other of the river or down the centre of the river). So I put both Innisfail and Innisfail Estate as being adjacent to this suburb to the north and north-east to have "have a bet each way". Kerry (talk) 22:52, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
