Talk:East Brunswick, New Jersey/Old talk
It might be worth mentioning that the name "Brunswick" originates in the German city "Braunschweig". I'm not sure that East Brunswick was directly named after that city, though. --Magnus Manske
Well, I think East Brunswick was named after New Brunswick, a city nearby. I do believe some of the original settlers in the area had some sort of Dutch/German background. Hence New Brunswick maybe. -- Oddjobn99
A lot of German names in North America, particularly in Canada, have to do with the connections to German nobility that the British Royal Family had post-1700. I believe that's where the Canadian province New Brunswick got its name. -- Paul Drye
I did a little more research and it looks as though New Brunswick was named after the British royal house of Brunswick, which comes from the German-British royalty connection. -- Oddjobn99
I am putting this page up as a candidate for speedy deletion because it should not exist, it has been replaced with the page East Brunswick Township, New Jersey and this page will not be found if you serch for East Brunswick on Wikipedia. --GorillazFanAdam 01:35, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
