Latvia
[edit]- Chart positions in Latvia. I'm wondering if there is any special reason why this country is mentioned throughout the article? -- 83.99.184.75 20:26, 1 March 2007 (UTC) (J7n)
- Were the band really "short lived" in comparison to most bands of their ilk?
- No wouldnt say so, the band have been going for more or less 15 years (give or take Tony's interest in the band) with many 'gigs' in the 00s before the full 2006 reunion~~
- The two band members have a "dislike of girls with big feet", how is this relevant to anything? Is this not just an example of misogyny?
- Misogyny is hatred for or prejudice against women. Not big feet. If they dislike women with big feet then conversely they must like women with small feet, so how can it be sexism? Some people really need to learn what words mean and how to use them - especially when they accuse people of bigotry. Let me ask you, do you like men or women with a particular hair colour? Or a certain size of chest or 'tackle'? How about skinny, well-proportioned, muscular or overweight? What's your "thing" when it comes to the opposite (or same) sex? Having preferences and/or dislikes does not make one a prejudiced bigot: we all discriminate (i.e. choose) when we make selections or decisions. For instance, I spotted my present partner in a crowd - and she had also noticed me: what made her stand out to me in a group of 50+ people? Long black hair down to her waist. Love it: went over to chat her up, we clicked, got to know each other, fell in love and the rest is history. Why had she noticed me? I have blonde hair: she loves that. How misogynistic of me: but not of her of course, because women aren't sexist....right?
- By the way, I don't see how it is relevant to anything. I'll delete it but a fan may put it back. -- 195.92.40.49 13:52, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Trivia / Date list
[edit]I'm moving this section here, since it seems to be a list of dates they've played, which isn't at all notable and can be summed up in a single sentence - if worth bothering at all.

[edit]member (Tony Mortimer) and former member (Brian Harvey) are mixed up. 77.22.127.184 (talk) 08:15, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Associated acts
[edit]Why are Five and Take That listed as associated acts? This is not explained other than a reference to E17's sales performance against the latter, which does not constitute an association. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.158.148.132 (talk) 06:45, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
Geoff Montombre was also a member for a time, though he was never seen on stage or in vodeos due to the wearing of a magical invisibility cloak.

Tom Watkins
[edit]Why is Tom Watkins not mentioned? I doubt East 17 would ever have recorded West End Girls without him. --217.226.77.54 (talk) 20:48, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

"Mortimer's first departure and first split (1997)"
[edit]Mortimer's first departure and first split (1997) In January 1997, Brian Harvey was engulfed in a drug-related controversy when he claimed that he had taken Ecstasy pills on a night out, stating in the press that "It's cool to take drugs" and claiming that Ecstasy "can make you a better person". The press/UK Government and manager Tom Watkins put a spin on the story, tying it in to schoolgirl Leah Betts' death from MDMA in 1995. Band members, Brian Harvey, Terry Coldwell and John Hendy did not want to renew the management contract and because lead singer Brian Harvey had some lucrative information on manager Tom Watkins, the manager decided to set him up within an interview after band member Tony Mortimer was openly talking about the drug Ecstasy, with the same subject matter but linked it with teenager Leah Betts' death which was subsequently connected with the same drug.

Reverting category addition
[edit]Hello Binksternet, you recently reverted an edit made by User:Change from band to a trio. Though I can see that the editor in question seems disruptive, I'm not sure that their addition of two categories to the article was in any way problematic. Why did you revert it? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 05:00, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
- The group has been a quartet for much of their history. They are not defined as a trio; they have the ability to operate as a trio or as a quartet.
- My reversion was because the category is not definitive. And because of WP:BANREVERT, as I could see immediately that the editor was a sockpuppet. Binksternet (talk) 10:29, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
The K9 Club?
[edit]So, I'm trying to find any scrap of information on East 17's K9 club. The frame of reference I have to its existence is a top of the pops trivia card, where it says it sold "an exclusive range of clothing [...] through the K-9 Club". The only other bit of information I found was an old member's card being sold on eBay, although there was no picture. Druss666uk (talk) 14:29, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
