Hi,

I am employed by ETAS and want to correct some factual errors on the page due to a big change in the strategy and the corporate design (logo) of ETAS GmbH. One Wikipedia admin told me to try this instead of directly publishing the contents. I'm not sure what type of texts are too much marketing. Can you help? From our point of view the page should look something like this:

Intro

ETAS is an international full-service solutions provider for the software-defined vehicle.

Can someone help? Thanks a lot. LatentBlau (talk) 13:15, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Some parts we can update but some parts we have to reject.
  • Your requested intro amounts to jargon that the average reader will not understand. The existing intro "designs tools for the development of embedded systems for the automotive industry" is far more understandable.
  • The use of German language on an English article is not appropriate.
  • The new logo we can probably do. We do have to be careful about copyright.
  • The portfolio list should be here on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is meant to be self contained. Although each point should, of course, have a reference to back it up.
  • We can update the revenue and number of employees using https://www.etas.com/en/company/about-etas.php as a reference.
  • Can you provide a reference for the key people?
  • I suspect you are sensitive to the mention of Russia. We do not remove historical information. However, if you can provide an appropriate reference to discontinuing service to Russia then we can insert the fact of discontinuance.
  • Similarly, we keep the history of the company, not just its present form. Therefore we keep the origin and merger history.
  • English references are much preferred. German references are acceptable if there is no equivalent English reference available. Remember that many of our readers do not read German and even English is often a second language.  Stepho  talk  23:51, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Stepho, thanks a lot for your quick reply.
The use of German was a mistake, sorry about that.
  • Intro: the current intro might be more understandable but it's no longer completely correct. As of now, ETAS sells products (= software and hardware), solutions, and services to enable vehicle manufacturers and suppliers to develop, operate, and secure differentiating vehicle software with increased efficiency. How can we show that on the page in an understandable way?
  • What kind of security do you need from me in order to replace the logo?
  • Reference for the key people: https://www.etas.com/en/company/management.php
  • Regarding ESCRYPT, see the following reference https://www.etas.com/en/company/news-changes-in-the-etas-brand-architecture.php >> "Until the end of 2021, ESCRYPT GmbH was managed as an independent subsidiary before being integrated into ETAS GmbH at the beginning of 2022."
I'll get back to you regarding the portfolio and the Russia part. LatentBlau (talk) 09:29, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
