US Dollar additions
[edit]One editor seems determined to add 2011 US dollar pricing for this gyroplane to the article and the amounts seem to vary each time it is added. There are four problems with this:
- Where did this number come form? Just converting the cited Euro amount is WP:OR as there may have been many other costs involved in a US sale, such as shipping, taxes, duties, etc, so you can't just convert a number and drop it in without a proper ref that states that the aircraft really sold for that amount in 2011.
- Who cares? As far as I can tell from the FAA registry no example of the ELA 07 was ever sold in the US, so who cares what it might have hypothetically cost in 2011?
- Wikipedia goes to great lengths to not be US-centric and to avoid the appearance of Americanism, especially on topics, like this that seem to have exactly no connection to the US. It is Spanish gyroplane, not American, so the price would normally be in Euros, which it is.
- As per WP:NOPRICES we normally don't include prices at all in Wikipedia articles. In aircraft type articles we do include them, but only in the info box and only when properly sourced, but they are still supposed to be "low emphasis".
I have tagged the price, as we need to cite a proper ref to include it. Is there any real need to include a US dollar price anyway? - Ahunt (talk) 13:20, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
