Australia is not an operator.

[edit]

Australia is not a customer for the EL/W-2085. The G550s being modified by L3 Communications to the MC-55A standard are for ISTAR operations, not AEW&C/AWACS. IAI/Elta are not involved in the program at all, and footnote 7 makes no reference IAI or Elta Systems at all in the article. The Phalcon AEW aircraft are not related to the MC-55A, their only link is both systems are employed on modified G550 platforms. (14.2.74.43 (talk) 08:27, 12 June 2021 (UTC))[reply]

Users are confusing the topic of the article, which is a radarsystem, with the aircraft the system is installed on, the G550CAEW. I've removed the aircraft infobox that was added as a result of this confusion. The correct infobox to use is Template:Infobox radar. BilCat (talk) 00:08, 13 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cool, but Australia is still listed as an operator of the EL/W-2085 system, which it is not. The confusion with the reference to Australia in this article seems to be that, since the EL/W-2085 system is mounted on G550 platforms with various operators, and that since Australia has ordered G550 ISR/ELINT platforms (note, not AWACS platforms), therefore they must be the EL/W-2085 AWACS system. This is not the case. Australia is not an operator of the EL/W-2085 system, and the G550 platforms the RAAF has acquired, though superficially similar looking to the EL/W-2085 equipped G550s, are not at all related and function in a completely different capacity to the EL/W-2085 system. The only reference in the article that's linked by this wiki page(https://australianaviation.com.au/2019/03/raaf-to-get-four-modified-gulfstream-g550s-for-electronic-warfare-support/) that associates the Australian MC-55s to Israel is an image of an Israeli G550 SEMA with the caption 'Israel operates G550s modified for ELINT'. There's no reference at all to Elta Systems in the article because Elta is not the contractor and no Elta products are being adopted in the MC-55 conversions, in fact, the reference to the actual contractor (L3Harris Technologies) is listed directly above the image of the Israeli aircraft in that article. Would someone be kind enough to rectify (ie, remove) the inclusion of Australia? Since I'm not a wiki contributor, I assume it'll come across as vandalism should I do so.
