"Replaced" infobox field
[edit]@TL9027:, I fail to see how it is relevant what JR East did with the E231-500 sets after the introduction of E235 series trains on the Yamanote Line. Whether the trains being scrapped or not doesn't have any relevance to the fact that E235 series trains replaced them on Yamanote Line services, or does it? Nyamo Kurosawa (talk) 10:14, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- Agreed: it doesn't.
That field should be limited to the rolling stock they replaced, not the disposition of said rolling stock.I misread, but I still completely agree with you here: it is indisputable that the E235s replaced the E231-500s on the Yamanote Line. Just because they were cascaded elsewhere doesn't mean their replacement shouldn't be reflected in the infobox. XtraJovial (talk • contribs) 23:54, 27 September 2023 (UTC)- After E235-0 entered service, the E231-500 series aren't retired, yet, they're only transferred to CHUO-SOBU line and shortened to 10 cars. It will be misleading if you say E235 replaced E231-500. TL9027 (talk) 00:35, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
- The E235-0s replaced the E231-500s on the Yamanote Line, which is precisely what the infobox has communicated. Them still operating on other lines does not make that more misleading. On the contrary, your edit could imply that the E235-0s were intended to augment the older fleet, which is not the case. XtraJovial (talk • contribs) 16:56, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- The 'replaced' field usually states that type of train replaced its previous generation trains which allow them to RETIRE. For example, Toei 6500 series are introduced to replace 6300 series and allowing the latter to retire. Isn't it? A transfer of trains isn't treated as replaced. - Im glad you finally joined this discussion, although its kind of not cool that you just reverted again. I disagree with your interpretation of this. How does it matter that the trains were not retired, but instead used elsewhere? The important part is that they dont run on the Yamanote line anymore, with the E235s operating the line instead.

Where does it say that? Not in the template documentation. Nyamo Kurosawa (talk) 22:15, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
