Should we mention Sigma's sealed DSLRs? It might not be a high-tech dust reduction system, but sealing the mirror box does work quite well in practice. Being the owner of an SD14 and a D80 I can tell you the D80 needs a lot of cleaning, and the SD14 barely so. Rnbc (talk) 14:39, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- OK by me. It has been mentioned here: Digital_single-lens_reflex_camera#Dust_reduction_systems --RenniePet (talk) 16:45, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Article copied from elsewhere?
[edit]It appears that the article, or sections of it at least, has been copied verbatim from Olympus' description of their dust removal system. Perhaps it is the other way around, but I am inclined to think the former. See http://www.olympus.co.uk/consumer/dslr_7051.htm. Should this be cited in the references? Additional topic request
[edit]Does it make sense to also include dust reduction system powered tools or is there a better spot to add or link additional information? Off topic from digital cameras, a dust reduction system is a technology that utilizes the application of water or local exhaust ventilation to reduce airborne dust generated by powered tools or equipment. When power tools are used to cut, grind, drill or core concrete masonry products, those tools must be equipped with a dust reduction system that prevents the generation of respirable dust. Dust Reduction Systems are used to reduce dust.... HOW?
[edit]
There is no real mention of how dust is removed. To just say Dust Reduction Systems are a technology for removing dust is not sufficient. Anyone could say that. The article talks about dust, but not about how it's removed. I put some tags on the page but didn't see one for article doesn't cover topic. Article doesn't cover topic but skirts around it.

Merger proposal
[edit]I propose that Supersonic Wave Filter be merged into Dust_reduction_system#Piezo_Crystal_Ultrasonic_Vibration_of_Filter. I think that the content in the SsWF article can easily be explained in the context of this section, and the this article is of a reasonable size in which the merging of SsWF will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. Also SsWF has been tagged as an ad, and it does seem to be a bit promotional. Putting it here would help this article and also seems more appropriate for Wikipedia. Avé 01:40, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- Non-redundant text from Supersonic Wave Filter was merged here. --Wtshymanski (talk) 00:27, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
