THIRD OLDEST?
[edit]I don't think so, the Welsh Cup was first contested in 1877 Blogdroed (talk) 00:03, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- SEVEN YEARS ON ... and still people are peddling the obvious error that this is the third oldest competitoon in the world! Please check the entry for the FAW Cup and the IFA Cup for further proof! Blogdroed (talk) 23:45, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- @ArsenalFan700: if you can find sources that this is the third oldest competition, shouldn't you quote them in the article rather than claim to have them in the edit summary? The Welsh Cup was first played in 1877. The Irish Cup was first played in 1881 - both of these are older than the Durand Cup. Blogdroed (talk) 23:51, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- I managed to find this. But then I found this. I am not sure which is right but RSSSF make a good point. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 04:01, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- I'm sure I could find articles which claim the Durand Cup to be "the third oldest tournament" - they will most likely have carried the error on from this page! There is, however, no doubting the FACT that the Welsh Cup and Irish Cup are older. Blogdroed (talk) 07:30, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- You know... I believe you are right and I am sorry for being to haste about it. Now we need to see if it the oldest in Asia. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 09:01, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- @ArsenalFan700: @Blogdroed: Durand's official website says 3rd oldest. S a h a 18:46, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Arnabsaha2212: It doesn't make it a fact! Even the Wiki page linked to in the article dismisses the claim! It is NOT the 3rd oldest tournament in the World! Blogdroed (talk) 12:44, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
