Regarding you're changes of Category:Former civil parishes in Essex from Dunton, Essex it actually looks like "Dunton" was the name of the village to the south where the church is while "Dunton Wayletts" is the area north of the A127. The articles should probably be split again but regardless I'm not sure its correct to say its also called "Dunton" (other than the fact it may be shortened) but it actually looks like they are 2 slightly different places. In any case per WP:INCOMPATIBLE I'd say the former CP category should be in the "Dunton, Essex" page not the "Dunton Wayletts" page. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:57, 29 April 2023 (UTC)

Dunton and Dunton Wayletts are one in the same, I know I live about 10 minutes from there. Dunton is the shortened version, much like Southend fir Southend-on-Sea or Bury for Bury St Edmunds by the locals. It was never a village, always a hamlet spread along Lower Dunton Road that runs from near Horndon on the Hill til the A127 and then north of the A127 (Dunton Road runs from Noak Bridge to Dunton Wayletts). Basildon History have a record from William White's Gazette of 1848 which gives both names. The civil parish covering the area was called Dunton or Dunton Wayletts depending on what text you read. I think this is because there is a second Dunton parish in Bedfordshire. It was part of the Barnstaple Hundred, while the Ecclesiastical Part was part of Billericay. The article before I changed the lead also said it was called Dunton, and the Dunton page was already redirected to the Dunton Wayletts page.Davidstewartharvey (talk) 08:42, 30 April 2023 (UTC)

OK Davidstewartharvey that seems reasonable, while the 19th century map showing "Dunton" and 20th century one showing "Dunton Wayletts" aren't in exactly the same area if sources do refer interchangably it seems most sensible to have 1 article. @Crouch, Swale the district of Basildon, known as the Borough of Basildon is a Parish area, with 9 parishes in total [1], though Dunton itself is not nor Basildon, I believe the phrase unparished covers the district as per government literature [2].Davidstewartharvey (talk) 08:28, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

Further to the above, this is the boundary of Dunton parish against the modern map which shows it covered the whole area from the bottom of Lower Dunton Road to north of the A127 [3]. Davidstewartharvey (talk) 08:41, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

@Davidstewartharvey: There are indeed 9 parishes in Basildon district 2 of which have town status but the area which both Dunton Wayletts and Dunton church is the Basildon unparished area (of which there is a detached part to the north) so while not part of the town of Basildon it is part of the unparished area. Rather oddly in 1974 the Basildon Urban District area became an unparished area and got a small part from Thurrock but now there are 9 parishes but its still correct to state Dunton Wayletts is in the unparished area of Basildon even if reduced since 1974.

I wasn't questioning the fact that the former "Dunton" parish included "Dunton Wayletts" (the map I linked above shows that) just it being an alternative name but per you're sources you have shown so. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:54, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

Thanks, I've added and infobox and the most recent population data and when abolished. I was adding this kind of info to articles a while ago but missed many that had some info and this one because I though a "Dunton" article needed to be created but soon I will go back through Essex to add data etc to the ones I missed.
