Infobox website
[edit]Editor Przemek27 has in the last 24 hours three times changed the article's infobox website from dungloe.net to dungloe.info. The .net site has been the one in the article for at least two years; it is community-based, advertising-free, and owned by Ionad Teampall Chróine, Dungloe's community centre (more info here). The .info site, by contrast, is registered to an individual with an address in Poland; it is commercially supported, and claims to offer "advertising opportunities". There appears to be no basis for switching the site on the infobox from that of the local community centre to a private commercial site run from overseas. Thoughts, anyone? --Yumegusa (talk) 10:47, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Conflict of Interest
[edit]Additionally, the similarity of the names of the owner of dungloe.info (Przemyslaw Baj) and the editor promoting it is strongly suggestive of wp:Conflict of interest. --Yumegusa (talk) 10:50, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know, I've been watching the edit war on my watch list. I agree his edits look a little suspicious, but the site itself doesn't appear to be simply a squatter/exploitation site. It does appear to be an actual site about community happenings at Dungloe. If he could explain more about who is funding the site and what their intentions are, I think it might be an acceptable site to link to. Gigs (talk) 11:54, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- She'd have to persuade both that wp:coi should be overridden, and that the Polish site is more 'valid' that the local one. My breath is bated. --Yumegusa (talk) 14:10, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
More about dungloe.info
[edit]Hi guys, there is no conflict of interest at all. Ionad Teampall Chróine is the funder of new website. They hire me to set up new one - to promote Dungloe Town (more for community and tourists)- read About Us for our intentions. The old one dungloe.net is more about Ionad Teampall Chróine and their services. Domain is still registered on my name but we are going to change it. Do you need something else? I work for them, i'm everyday in office. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Przemek27 (talk • contribs) 09:22, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. Please read wp:Conflict of interest, as you seem to be missing the point. Furthermore, The About Us page on your new website makes no mention of Ionad Teampall Chróine, instead referring to an unidentified 'we'. --Yumegusa (talk) 09:37, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
I can't understand where is problem? Would you like to show me what should be done to change this link? Please, Here some more answers: We -in our about us page means all Dungloe community (private persons, bussines etc.) I chenged this and added signed by Ionad Teampall Chróine for your needs. The site is run from Dungloe (from Ionad Teampall Chróine office) and just server is placed in cheaper location. Why don't you just write to Ionad Teampall Chróine and ask them about www.dungloe.info to verify if you have problem? Have you seen front page of dungloe.net? It is about Ionad Teampall Chróine (local community developement center) and their services) not about Dungloe Town so if users of wikipedia are looking for website of Dungloe Town they will get something different they expected. The new one dungloe.info - is dedicated just stricte to our town and Rosses area. Have you seen this website? Visitors of dungloe.info will get everything they need about Dungloe starting from history ending at accomodation. Do you get this at dungloe.net? So which one is more accuracy? Which one gives more information and which one is better source of informations for wikipedia users? FYI there is even link from dungloe.net to dungloe.info redirecting for more info for visitors: http://dungloe.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=41&Itemid=54
Can i ask for other editors opinion? Gigs what is your opinion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Przemek27 (talk • contribs) 22:34, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- It is possible to have both links. Conflict of interest is something to be careful about, but if it truly adds to the article then a link is fine, even if added with a COI. Gigs (talk) 13:46, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, Gigs. Can the infobox hold two urls? I didn't know that, but even if it can, it seems less than optimal. I've explained the reasons for my suspicions above, but they have now been largely allayed - thanks Przemek. I remain a little concerned that the user is not grasping wp:coi but that's probably academic at this point. I say let's switch to the .info site as it seems a lot more useful, and more uptodate than the .net.--Yumegusa (talk) 13:53, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, we will be working on our website to make it super friendly for visitors - thanks boys, you should go for holidays to Dungloe :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.251.175.246 (talk) 11:03, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved. —usernamekiran (talk) 15:12, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
An Clochán Liath → Dungloe – Move in 2019 breached WP:IMOS and cannot be automatically reverted as someone attempted to correct by copying page content instead. Dungloe is the only valid article title as per WP:IMOS 213.146.164.195 (talk) 10:17, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
- @EosaphOScollain: re moved page Talk:Dungloe to Talk:An Clochán Liath: "This is the recognised name for the town, both by the Donegal County Council and the Irish Government under the Placenames (Ceantair Ghaeltachta) Order 2004." In ictu oculi (talk) 12:10, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
- Support - as this is the english language Wikipedia & so we should go with the english version of the name. GoodDay (talk) 14:30, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
- Support - per nom, WP:COMMONNAME, WP:OFFICIALNAME, and WP:IMOS#Common names. Article shouldn't have been moved last year, unilaterally, in the way it was. "It is the official name" is not a valid move reason in the context of the guidelines. For the same reason that the articles on Dingle, Gweedore, Glenties and others are all titled as they are (they are the common names of the places in English), this article should also use the common English name. Guliolopez (talk) 08:31, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- Support. Primary reason: article moved unilaterally. Placename moves are especially likely to be controversial, so seek consensus first. Secondary reason: Dungloe remains the common name used in English. Along the lines of Munich, Venice etc. Declangi (talk) 02:16, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Donegal is not in Ulster!
