Relevancy of details about Kapruka.com
[edit]Questions have been raised as to whether details about Kapruka.com, such as the frequency of its shipments and its public controversies, are relevant to Dulith Herath. PaigeK (talk) 08:47, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- I have removed the unverified information from the page. Aayan.v (talk) 16:30, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
- It appears that verified information was also removed, including the company's rating with the Better Business Bureau. Is there a particular reason not to include the company's rating? If the notability of Dulith Herath is based on the public perception of his company, then it is noteworthy that the company holds an F rating with the Better Business Bureau. The inclusion of this information is particularly significant to ensuring an impartial article. See other Wikipedia articles that discuss BBB ratings of particular businesses, including Ygnition and Gexa Energy PaigeK (talk) 13:47, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
- Reverting your edit as BBB rating is for Kapruka and not Dulith. It does not meet WP:BLP. I have also removed unverified claim of Kapruka being the largest website in Sri Lanka for the same reason. Kindly note here that the notability of Dulith Herath is not only from Kapruka as discussed in deletion discussion earlier as well. Aayan.v (talk) 16:54, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
- I'm having trouble seeing how a BBB rating violates the WP:BLP. If Kapruka is not notable enough to be mentioned in Wikipedia, it follows that Dulith Herath may also not be notable enough. The deletion discussion from earlier claimed Dulith Herath to be notable due to receiving the Eisenhower Fellowship. However, very few recipients of that fellowship have personal articles on Wikipedia. Perhaps this article needs to be reevaluated in terms of notability.PaigeK (talk) 13:49, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
- To answer your questions, let’s break it this way:
- I'm having trouble seeing how a BBB rating violates the WP:BLP. - How is rating of an organization founded by a person related to that person? Shouldn’t the person and his company both be separate entities? Going by your logic, all ratings and criticism of Amazon, Airbnb and Uber should also be relevant to Jeff Bezos, Brian Chesky and Travis Kalanick. However, if you carefully notice their Wikipedia pages, you will find only things where they are directly involved. Wikipedia treats both companies and their founders differently.
- If Kapruka is not notable enough to be mentioned in Wikipedia, it follows that Dulith Herath may also not be notable enough. – Mentioning something on Wikipedia and having an individual page for it are two different things. Wikipedia clearly mentions notability of a subject cannot be inherited from a different subject. Notability of Dulith is not only from Kapruka but from the cluster of things he did in his life including founding and leading Kapruka. Aayan.v (talk) 17:17, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
←1. BBB ratings for a large multinational corporation like Amazon would likely not be featured on their Wikipedia pages because their public presence is more significant and rests on other types of interactions with the public, for example with law and policy. Since Kapruka has a very small public profile, their BBB rating is more demonstrative of their public perception. 2. Can you be more specific as to the "cluster of things" that render Dulith Herath notable? Just reading the Wikipedia article, the notability of Dulith Herath seems to rest primarily on Kapruka. Other tangential accomplishments include graduating from a university, working at Microsoft, and presenting at UN Summit. The Summit in question had nearly 900 presenters, very few of whom have their own Wikipedia articles, so participation does not indicate the required notability for an individual Wikipedia article.PaigeK (talk) 01:00, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
- 1. Yes You are right, it will not. But also please note that neither of any company's awards and criticisms has been included on their founder's page.
- 2. Notability is not for one thing. Wikipedia clearly specifies the criteria of notability and Dulith qualifies it. Kapruka, Grasshoppers, Eisenhower fellowship are the main highlights of his career. Aayan.v (talk) 17:10, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
Veracity of liquor racket allegations
[edit]Concern about the veracity of liquor racket allegations was expressed. Although Wikipedia is not a place to evaluate such allegations, Kapruka has publicly responded to the incident, and thus it is likely to have actually occurred PaigeK (talk) 08:47, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
- After having a look at the clarification article, maybe the news is valid but the page of Dulith is still not the right place for it. We must adhere to BLP policy. We should create a page for Kapruka and add the information there. Aayan.v (talk) 16:42, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

[edit]My practice is not to add awards unless they're notable awards in their own right, as evidenced by the award having its own Wikipedia page. Spintendo 20:01, 11 October 2018 (UTC)
Add a section for Kapruka controversy amid covid-19 outbreak

ADD A NEW SECTION: source = (http://www.ft.lk/front-page/CAA-raids-e-platform-for-selling-essential-items-over-fixed-price/44-698058)
==Controversy with selling essential items over the fixed price via Kapruka e-platform==
In late March 2020, the online e-platform Kapruka(where Mr. Dulith Herath was the chairman), gained popularity by delivering essential items within Sri Lanka amid covid-19 outbreak. However, the market prices of many essential items were way over the fixed price set by the government. Kapruka also charged an extra for deliveries within Colombo, and also offered free delivery for selected types of deliveries, which was made obvious that the extra price was not regarding the transportation.
This was hugely criticized by the general public as Kapruka was trying to take advantage of the situation in the country(at the time, covid-19 was spreading rapidly and the whole country was on lockdown) for the business profits. Eventually, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) raided several Kapruka outlets and stated it would take legal actions against Kapruka for violating regulations. Several videos of the raid were shared in social media and Mr. Dulith Herath was seen denying allegation by arguing with the officials. At one point, Mr. Herath defended an overpriced item based on the fact that it was marked as "Sold Out" at that time; He clearly stated, "If it's marked as Sold Out, that means we are not selling the product". This statement went viral in social media and generally criticized as a shameful attempt to cover-up the regulation violation.
Mr. Herath released a statement after the raid and denied the allegations. In the statement, he mentioned the over-priced items were a special section that was allowed for on-demand price fluctuations, and they were failed to notice that they violated the government regulations. He also stated immediate actions were taken to correct the pricing. Tharindu Bandara Hewage (talk) 12:46, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Not done for now, WP:NOTNEWS, WP:DUE. This is the article about Herath, not about his company. Companies are investigated by consumer authorities all the time and it is not an automatic inclusion in the company's article. If additional sources are provided that this is indeed highly notable then the only WP:DUE mention would be In 2020, the company was investigated by Sri Lankan consumer authorities for selling items over the government's maximum retail price during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.[1] since this article is not about the company. – Thjarkur (talk) 15:38, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

Controversy
[edit]I have added the controversy section because WP:NEWSEVENT. Please don't remove without discussing. – NirvanaTodayt@lk 01:08, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- @NirvanaToday, I was looking at the Dulith's page today. While the page should provide unbiased information it looks more like a disgruntled rant. I have removed some part from the controversy and career section which does not comply with WP:BLP. I'm also wondering is it relevant to include legal cases related to Kapruka on this page as Dulith and Kapruka both are separate entities? What do you think?
