First/third base side dugout

[edit]

The section on which dugout is used the home team seems to stray from the main topic of the article. It's certainly a legitimate topic worth discussing in the article, but as of right now it's the bulk of the article, and is probably too specialized to be such an overwhelming portion of it. Having it in its own section would be a start, but it also needs some sourcing (for example, the "many theories"... whose are they?) and general cleanup for tone and cohesion. Someone in the Wikiproject might want to take a look at it. --Kinu t/c 04:40, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Some teams have it on the first base side, others on the third base side. The point is made, and that's worthy of maybe a sentence or two. No need to get the Warren Commission on this. SliceNYC (Talk) 03:58, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. I was hoping to learn a bit about dugout location - watching the MLB 2007 play-offs in New Zealand, where we don't get much baseball info and news - and I was pleased to see the list and would like to thank whoever did the research to state it for us. If you're bothered about the comparitive text length between dugout location and other matters relating to the dugout, then I prefer to think of it as a lack of research on other dugout related information. Just because there is a lack of information on some parts, it doesn't mean we have to bury other information - Message Trader, New Zealand. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Messagetraders (talkcontribs) 23:07, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why is it lower than the field?

But why is it dug out? Why is it lower than the field?--—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.100.0.41 (talkcontribs) 05:27, 20 June 2007.
To give the fans seated behind the dugout a view of the field.

Dugout (baseball)Dugout (baseball and softball) – Dugouts exist identically in baseball and softball. Unless we're considering softball a variety of baseball (which we very well could), the parenthetical should include the two separate sports in which this concept exists. Dennis C.
