"its" for a male?

A male can only make a few hundred such cells during its lifetime (emphasis mine). Is that a convention in entomology, or should it be "his lifetime" instead? The Crab Who Played With The Sea (talk) 15:15, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
