The reference to Bismarck as a "pilot" comes from an earlier cartoon from the Puck magazine from Saint Louis, Missouri.[citation needed]
-Isn't the word pilot in the title referring to the small boat? I recall hearing somewhere that a small lifeboat or launch from a ship is sometimes refered to as the pilot or pilot boat.
