Eggs, Beans and Crumpets
[edit]In some of the early stories the members of the Drones are subclassified as Eggs, Beans and Crumpets. Is it known if Bertie, for example, belongs to one of these groups? —Tamfang 21:57, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
That is just a joke; at the time people of that set would address each other as ‘old bean’, ‘old egg’ and so on. Wodehouse treats these random appellations as though they are names of groups within the club. Like houses at the old school where many of them were, not too long ago. 2A00:23C7:E284:CF00:C50A:8C1F:6CEB:DBF0 (talk) 22:07, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
Confirmed Drones Members
[edit]If you go by the television program, Gussie Fink-Nottle must be a confirmed Drones Club member, since during the episode of his first appearance, he is sent away by Jeeves (Bertie is still asleep) and Bertie later meets him at the bar of the Drones, where Gussie has been eating lunch. 71.231.192.148 (talk) 00:02, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- The television show is not The Official Canon. Liberties are taken, as they say. - DavidWBrooks (talk)

[edit]The Drones Club is mentioned in Big Money (a Wodehouse novel). The two principal characters have lunch there early in the book; one of them is a member and I believe the other is a former member. Z57N (talk) 17:42, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

T. S. Eliot reference to the Drones
[edit]Might it worth mentioning that the Drones is mentioned by T. S. Eliot in his comic poem 'Bustopher Jones - the Cat About Town' in Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats?
...he's frequently seen at the gay Stage and Screen
Which is famous for winkles and shrimps.
In the season of venison he gives his ben'son
To the Pothunter's succulent bones;
And just before noon's not a moment too soon
To drop in for a drink at the Drones.

[edit]I changed " St James' Street " to " St James's Street " to match https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_James%27s_Street (assuming that linked Wikipedia article to be correct in its usage). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.18.208.63 (talk) 23:11, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
