Overview vague?
[edit]In the opening paragraph we read:
... cementing of the steel casing from the surface to a depth usually just about the target reservoir.[1]
possibly taken verbatim from the cited reference. I think it should read: "... cementing one or more strings of steel casing as required by the nature of the formations penetrated." If we change it we should drop the reference entirely, or perhaps move it to the "Suggested Reading" section. Comments? Irv (talk) 07:16, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm ya it's a shame it isn't a source we can access. I'd say do as you say, change it and put the Engineering Encyclopedia reference in a further reading list. If you can find a source saying pretty much what you're saying, all the better. TastyCakes (talk) 14:21, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- The Society of Petroleum Engineers has a better description [1]. I'm not sure what the Wiki policy is on lifting (copyrighted?) things verbatim, but with attribution is it OK? Or, I can fashion something out of it (and I WAS a drilling engineer for the first half of my career in the industry) and then cite it rather than the McGraw Hill reference.Irv (talk) 18:09, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- That sounds perfect. Wikipedia doesn't like copying directly, but if you could paraphrase and cite the article I'm sure it'd be fine. TastyCakes (talk) 20:44, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
