Which alumni colleges should be included?
[edit]I disagree with the reversion of any schools that are non top-tier, so long as they are notable as "good schools". Swatjester 23:32, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- The problem with including non top tier schools is that most Dreyfoos graduates attend "good" schools. Thus, if we include every college a Dreyfoos graduate has ever attended, this page will be completely dominated by a list that serves no encyclopedic fucntion than to show that Dreyfoos graudates attend a lot of different colleges. By limitig this to top-tier, we provide encyclopedic, recognizable evidence of Dreyfoos's quality. Also, we could argue that there is just nothing particuarly notable about a high school sending graduates to a run of the mill "good" school, while it is notable that a public high school sends students to one among a select list of schools. Also, you suggest "good" as a criterion. How would you define "good"? I would argue that being in the USNews Top 30 (along with, perhaps being in the top group of liberal arts colleges as ranked by US News and the top group of art schools (if there is such a list; until we find one a smell test driven by consensus may have to do)) is a good proxy for being a notably good college. Inclusion of audition requirements
[edit]The audition reqs can't be considered copyvio: DSOA is a public school (i.e. that means the reqs come from a government source) ⇒ SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 21:40, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
- The admissions details cant be considered to violate copyright, but this much detail is not necessary. It reads vapidly institutional, and this makes the article dry and uninteresting, providing information that will bore the casual reader as he or she tries to slog through the article. We need to streamline that section so it presents the essential details, then provide a link for those readers who want to see the entire policy as it is presented by the school. MrPMonday 16:02, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. A paragraph or so (set apart as its own section) would be more than enough. I would do this myself, but I do not know much about DSOA -- it seems to me that someone with a connection to the school would be best able to identify the most salient information in this copy and paste job. Captaintruth 00:51, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
- Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying their necessary. I'm just pointing out that they're OK copyright-wise. Perhaps a sub-article for DSOA audition requirements?⇒ SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 03:05, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
- I think a subarticle would be overkill and would probably not survive an AFD proposal on notability grounds....A subsection seems like the way to go...I imagine a knowledgable person could quite readily compress this information into a useful paragraph or two. Captaintruth 05:14, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
- The section in question includes way too much detailed information for the casual reader, and anyone who wants to know what the requirements actually are can get them from the school or district themselves. Im going to revert it, and if anyone thinks the information should stay in the article, let them distill it to pertinent, digestible chunks.MrPMonday 06:38, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Website
[edit]Removed http://www.palmbeach.k12.fl.us/alexanderwdreyfooshs/index3.htm# DSOA website since it's only a test site, maybe later it can be readded, when the site is up and running? MrPMonday 06:52, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
Dreyfoos.org provides a lot of information about the school. I came across it yesterday. Maybe add it? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.110.108.73 (talk) 03:23:08, August 19, 2007 (UTC)
