"Kept as a theme park"?

[edit]

It's been several years since I last went to Dreamland, but the last time I did (in the 1990s), it was an amusement park — it didn't have any theming.

Has it become a theme park at some point since, or (as I suspect) did whoever wrote that phrase make the all-too-common mistake of saying "theme park" when he(?) meant "amusement park"? Theme parks are amusement parks, to be sure, but not vice-versa. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.122.47.170 (talk) 20:05, 10 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

In 1981 Dreamland was purchased by the Dutch Bembom Brothers, who renamed the park "Bembom Brothers White Knuckle Theme Park". I don't know what the theme was, but that was the name! -- JediLofty User ¦ Talk 16:30, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Ferris Wheel at Dream Land

[edit]

I'm reaching to to anyone who may know who purchased the Dreamland ferris wheel? I have heard from several people who have said it was an American business man and moved to the States. My husband is from Margate and moved to America when he married me. If it is indeed State-side, we would like to find it if it is operational and go there to relive a piece of my husbands childhood.

Any help, if anyone knows where it is today would be great!

Thank you so much!

Removal of pictures

[edit]

Hello,

There were some nice historic pictures of the Scenic Railway in the 1920s and 30s as well as a couple of pictures showing the modern Dreamland on here. These have all been removed and the only picture remaining is the derelict site as it was before restoration! What is going on? Can we add back some of the good historic and modern pictures again? Somebody glancing at this page would believe that the park is still derelict! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peet13 (talkcontribs) 18:54, 13 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Treatment of recent reopening has a POV bias

[edit]

I think that this article has a POV bias favouring the reopening project. To balance the picture, I've added details of recent financial problems which the article lacked, because they are seriously relevant to the immediate future. Also, I removed a libellous POV blaming TDC for the financial failure, as well as altering another statement claiming local public opinion supported reopening after Godden shut down. This is a POV as well, and not true. I lived in Thanet at the time, and there was a substantial body of opinion worried about the financial risks of the reopening project back then.
