Lead image

[edit]

Hi User:Libby norman - I finally found a better Commons image of a draped turban from 1975, cropped it down, and I think this might make a better lead image for the article than the Grace Kelly picture as you can see the hat much more clearly than Grace's. What do you think? Incidentally I'm not sure that the other image which I replaced was definitely a turban - it could have been a knitted stocking cap pulled down over the head, as I couldn't see much draping. I really do wish we had better pic organisation/tagging on Commons as it's a crazy mess over there, nearly impossible to find anything. Took me several days and much scanning and squinting to spot the Farah turban. Mabalu (talk) 13:52, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Mabalu, excellent I think this is a good changeover – I thought the other hat was a turban in spirit/intention – especially with the net over the face and the retro look that was going on – but the draping looked quite minimal and it didn't rise at the front which seems to be a definer for most turbans and turban hats. I know there must be images out there as Joan Collins, Liz Taylor half the royal family and so on were all wearing them. I also agree on the ordering and have switched the images round so that the new image is the opener and Grace Kelly sits down with 1950s and beyond – that works for the section and covers off the post '50s trends. I do love Grace Kelly's version – so out there! Libby norman (talk) 16:50, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
