"Old Flo" now in Canary Wharf?

[edit]

It appears that the statue owned by London County Council (Old Flo) has been moved back from Yorkshire and is now in Cabot Square, Canary Wharf (UK). Apparently it will be there for 5 years. [1] 15:09, 30 October 2017 (UTC)

Clive Street and Siting Date

[edit]

I can't find any information about Stifford Estate and Old Flo being in Clive Street. By the time of the development of Stifford Estate the street was (and still is) called Jamaica Street, is Clive Street an historical name? We moved to opposite the statue in 1963, and our address was *** Jamaica Street, Stifford Estate, Stepney E1.

With regards to the siting date, the article says it's not known - it was 1st July 1962 but I don't know how to word it for the article so could someone update it please? https://www.henry-moore.org/henry-moore-archive/adhoc/henry-moore-and-old-flo MarpoHarks (talk) 13:38, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I've found this old map that shows that the area behind the estate was called Clive Street in 1952, before being demolished to make way for Stepney Green Park http://www.mernick.org.uk/elhs/maps/s1952.htm Access to the statue (which was placed near the three tower blocks) was via Jamaica Street though, so I'm not sure that Clive Street is useful as a location. Also, I searched in vain for this page by using 'Old Flo' as that's what everyone called her. I only found out the real name via Google, so perhaps we could have a redirect on here? @MarpoHarks: I have changed the information about the installation date, and created Old Flo as a redirect to this page. The play-by-play over the legal wrangling about the Tower Hamlets cast could still do with some serious trimming, but that's a problem for another day...
