One little thing t hey overlooked---what happens to the little girl? She doesn't leave with Tierney at the end of the film! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.23.5.11 (talk) 20:06, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
- It has been quite a long time since I've seen the movie, but I'm very familiar with the novel. In the novel, the little girl, Katrine, goes to live with a maternal aunt and uncle, and cousins, after the death of her mother. At one point after their marriage, Miranda asks Nicholas if he wouldn't like his daughter to come to live with him again, but he states that she is happier where she is than she would be if he took her back. (Of course, the truth is he never got over his disappointment that Katrine was not a son, and really didn't care about her.) At the end of the novel, Miranda inherits everything after the death of Nicholas, but other than the Dragonwyck mansion, which she orders to be torn down, she gives everything to Katrine. I think they just didn't bother to mention Katrine again in the movie. Jersey Jan (talk) 23:35, 27 July 2024 (UTC)
