Genre labeled as AOR?

That's not a music genre, it's a radio format, same as classic rock, and modern rock. Proposing removal of second sentence in intro

I propose to remove the sentence, "Credited to Grace Slick / Paul Kantner / Jefferson Starship, the band itself was at a turning point after a series of four albums centering on the partnership of Kantner and Slick during the disintegration of Jefferson Airplane through the early 1970s." because the sentence is irrelevant to the band Jefferson Starship, and is misleading, as it is referring to Jefferson Airplane, which ended in 1970 and Grace Slick and Paul Kantner solo albums which were not Jefferson Starship albums.Cheryl Fullerton (talk) 19:13, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Cheryl Fullerton

Also, propose to remove the word "only" from first sentence in second paragraph and "Caroline failed to chart" as this is NPOV. Also, propose to remove reference to Jefferson Airplane or an Jefferson Airplane album as the reference is irrelevant to the topic of Jefferson Starship and its first album. The sentence should not use the "/" for Wikipedia Manual of Style considerations, but other than that, it should remain as written.

Yes, this information is relevant to the topic. The album Dragonfly, and Jefferson Starship, was a turning point for the organization, which was undergoing an evolution. The Hot Tuna tandem departed, the Slick and Kantner faction worked on a series of collaboration albums, and they eventually reorganized the group into Jefferson Starship. The album Dragonfly under the new banner represents the culmination of the process. It is also relevant to indicate the circumstances involved during that period to set the background of the recording. Jefferson Airplane did not end "in 1970," and there was never a break up announcement. When Casady and Kaukonen decided not to return, Kantner and Slick chose to reorganize without them. They and the other three remaining Jefferson Airplane band members picked new members, and they selected the name Jefferson Starship to maintain continuity to Jefferson Airplane. The decision to record an album under this new moniker meant the next phase in the evolutionary changeover. I agree that the word "only" in the first sentence of the second paragraph should be removed. I think that the article should mention that the song "Caroline" was released as a single as that is relevant to the topic. Maybe instead of " failed to chart" it should read "did not chart." This conveys the same information with an improved wording.

The information on the album sales of Dragonfly is relevant to the topic. Providing a comparison to the sales of Jefferson Airplane is also relevant, as Jefferson Airplane is a related topic to Jefferson Starship. This sales information comparison of Dragonfly to the Jefferson Airplane albums is also referenced in the AllMusic Jefferson Starship biography, so it does appear in other sources for the subject, and should remain here.

I disagree with your proposal to "add additional band members in order to balance the mention of Marty Balin." The mention of Balin performing on "Caroline" prior to joining the band is notable, and should be mentioned in the article to explain his role. Adding other band members solely "to balance the mention of Marty Balin" is not a good reason to modify an encyclopedia article, and doing so for that purpose will not improve the article. The goal is to present an accurate encyclopedia article, and not efforts to make sure we mention every band member an equal amount of times. Besides, the personnel section lists the band members and the track listing provides writing credits for the songs, so all of the band members are listed and accounted for in this article. It does not need to have them added into the narrative to balance out the fact that Marty Balin's name was mentioned.
