[edit]Another possible source (reliable?):

Material without sources
[edit]Hello: I see there are sections of content, especially descriptions of performances, that don't have sources attached. I'm wondering if down the road editors may tag the article, or sections will be deleted. I also see a discrepancy in the number of venue seats. There are quotes from various reporters throughout and I'm not sure of the rule here. I wanted to start a discussion about these things so that anyone interested in editing can improve it as best we can. Best, LeepKendall (talk) 16:23, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- @LeepKendall Thanks for collaborating here! I do not see any paragraphs which do not end with an inline citation, so can you be more specific? I recognize there may be an over-reliance on the Mercury's live blog (currently Ref. #11, used 20+ times), but I wanted to at least get a detailed overview of the program on Wikipedia for others to trim appropriately. I wasn't sure if I should be focusing more on the "notable" (from a Wikipedia perspective) people, who were actually mostly hosts, or the drag performers, most of whom are local. So, I tried my best to provide an overview but I am totally open to feedback and article improvements by others. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:28, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there @Another Believer. I see what you are saying and see citations at the end of each paragraph (at least). I was basically asking questions based on things different editors have said to me over the years. I think this overview is good. I'm sure if editors come along who feel it should be trimmed (i.e., notable folks vs. the inclusion of local folks), they will do so. Thanks for all of your hard work getting this up and going! Best LeepKendall (talk) 18:53, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- I always appreciate constructive feedback and welcome article improvements. Happy editing! :) ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:56, 17 July 2023 (UTC)

Collaboration
[edit]- @Megalibrarygirl: Hey, been a while! To me, this seems like the sort of article you might enjoy working on. Holler if you have any interest in collaborating, or wish to share any thoughts about the state of this article, just as a reader. No worries if you're not interested. Thanks and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:31, 17 July 2023 (UTC)

- Another note to editors: I've finished initial expansion, so this article could likely benefit from a copy edit. I'd submit a request here, but only two open requests by an editor are allowed in the queue. So, unless someone beats me to the punch, I'll submit a request for this article when possible. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:34, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
Update: This source mentions 4,900 tickets sold and $296,000 raised

updates
[edit]Hey there - thanks for making this page. I am the event creator and producer and I'd like to make a number of edits for accuracy. I tried to edit the page and it said my edits were rejected and I should talk to you. Can we get the page updated pls? Thanks Emma Irish wildfang (talk) 20:19, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Irish wildfang: Thanks for coming to this talk page to discuss. First, let me thank you for your work on this project. Very cool! I'm the primary author of the Wikipedia article, which of course I want to be accurate, and I'm happy to help address your concerns. But, please keep in mind, the Wikipedia entry is based on what secondary sources such as newspapers have said about the topic. Can you please share your concerns in more detail so we can address? When proposing specific changes, can you also please provide sources for verification? Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:29, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- Yes for sure. We are VERY grateful you made it. It's super cool. I can verify all my claims -- not always with media links as you know I do not control the media. However I did create and produce the event. Here are just some of the edits for accuracy. There is a decent list which I would appreciate having the ability to update given the massive effort that went into this event. Firstly Darcelle's did not create or produce the event. Wildfang did. Wildfang paid all costs (I have the receipts ;) and Darcelle's was simply the venue and was paid by Wildfang to be the venue. Wildfang is a genderfluid fashion brand and I'd love it if we were described that way versus the current description. Also there's a producer you missed -- Chloe Roach. Next, the charity amount is $306k, which again is an updated number that Trevor Project can confirm. Next up, the congratulations videos were from RuPaul and Jamie Lee Curtis -- you can see both on our instagram. Poison Waters was pitched the event by me in March but did nothing on it until June, so that portion is not accurate. I can keep going but it would be great if you could allow one of the event's producers to update the wiki if possible. Otherwise I can send you file with updated copy. It's a bummer to work so hard on an event and have it misrepresented. Irish wildfang (talk) 20:36, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- some other things -- total tickets sold were 2600, not 2500. Again I have all ticket sales I can show you. Also they were sold in groups of 100, not 160. 160 would be over capacity for the club and that would get us in trouble -- hence why we sold 100 for each time slot and again, happy to share that info with you Irish wildfang (talk) 20:38, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Irish wildfang Source for Chloe Roach? Source for $306K? Source for Jamie Lee Curtis? ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:00, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- Jamie lee Curtis - https://www.instagram.com/p/CuAld4LJEJ2/?hl=en
- Trevor Project amount -- can be confirmed by Bret Koch at trevor Project. Happy to add you to an email. That is the current updated amount.
- Chloe Roach can be confirmed by Eden, myself and Poison. Again, happy to start an email thread if you'd like or have them each comment on this article.
- How would you like to handle this given there are so many points which need amends? Irish wildfang (talk) 21:14, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, but we generally do not use Instagram and other social media outlets as sources. Again, we rely on secondary coverage to describe a topic. If you wish to make changes to this entry, you'll need to provide sources. Not email addresses or names of contacts. Remember, the purpose of Wikipedia is not to include every single fact about a topic, but rather to provide an overview based on reliable sources. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:27, 24 July 2023 (UTC)

Conceived and produced by Wildfang
[edit]@Irish wildfang: I've made these changes to the wording, per this Willamette Week article. Does this help in terms of crediting you and Wildfang appropriately, while also crediting Darcelle XV Showplace, Poison Waters, and Eden Dawn as co-organizers? ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:27, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Another. Is it possible to credit Eden Dawn as a local journalist / podcast host based on bylines in Portland Monthly (https://www.pdxmonthly.com/style-and-shopping/2021/05/thank-you-to-portland-fashion-eden-dawn) and her podcast page: https://www.wecantprintthis.com/ and this willamette week article: https://www.wweek.com/arts/movies/2023/07/04/eden-dawn-and-fiona-mccann-redefine-newsworthy-with-their-podcast-we-cant-print-this/. I tried to edit but might not have been doing so successfully! Thanks Mouse MouseNiDuibhne (talk) 17:18, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Removal
[edit]Got it. Please can you tell me how I can have this piece removed? It’s filled with inaccuracies and it’s my event, that I created, produced and paid for and you won’t make edits. Therefore I would ask that it is removed. You credit the wrong party with ownership of the event among other inaccuracies and I’d like it removed. Please can you help me understand how to do that? 2600:1017:B826:87A:40C2:6742:A0D7:DB72 (talk) 00:53, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- Wow, that sure was short-lived appreciation... ---Another Believer (Talk) 12:51, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- Two things, you apparently have WP:COI and second, whom did you pay to create/edit this page (WP:PAID). Also keep in mind of WP:OWN. A09 (talk) 14:28, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- @A09 I'm the primary author of this article and I've not been paid. I have no COI, just wanted to cover this notable event. Article improvements welcome! ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:34, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
