Subsets

[edit]

The subsets listed for technical drawing are document types not practices, therefore they should be removed.Trihoiseachaithne (talk) 23:36, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is it? The term Technical drawing has multiple meaning, refering both to the document and practices.
I think terms as Architectural drawing, Electrical drawing, and Engineering drawing have the same double meaning.

Yes, your're right. It can mean both; however, I think it is redundant. Besides, each of those articles would have to tackle the problem of document vs. discipline the same way the technical drawing article has.

In Wikipedia we don't remove things, just because they seem redundant. I think, there is a lot of redundancy in Wikipedia, and in every good representation. You can't people expect to understand the first and only time you explain.
I do think the term "Mechanical systems drawing", and "Working drawing" don't fit here. But "Plumbing drawing" and "Structural drawing" could be considered subfieds as well. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 01:33, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. And I don't think these articles automatically have to tackle the problem of document vs. discipline the same way the technical drawing article has. In the technical drawing article this aspect is mentioned. The other don't have to mention it as well. I think these article should especially focuss on the documents. The article drafter allready focusses on the practice.
"In the technical drawing article this aspect is mentioned. The other don't have to mention it as well. I think these article should especially focuss on the documents." Your comment is precisely why the subset listings in the disambiguation page is confusing. When someone searches for "drafting", they are not looking for the document, they are looking for the process.

The source of the confusion is the double meaning of the term "technical drawing" and its subdiscipline. You don't solve possible confusion by not mentioning the terms here. A thing you can do is add a {{articleissues}} tag, which looks like this:

{{articleissues}}

You can add this tag on top of the civil drawing, structural drawing, mechanical systems drawing, electrical drawing, and plumbing drawing if you want. I personally try to avoid these tags at all costs. But I think there is even a bigger problem with these articles you just created, which I will explain soon.
As far as I am concerned this disambiguation page is all right now. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 10:51, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. To set this in motion I will start adding {{articleissues}} on every article and start an discussion on every talkpage. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 20:53, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
