I added a section on Portland's success vs. "Urban Hollowing". I'm not at all satisfied with it (especially the heading), but it seems an issue worth mentioning. Constructive criticism/edits welcome. -- Gnetwerker 00:41, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

A good issue to address, but "urban hollowing" isn't an official term, iirc, and sounds too... "cute." So i've messed with it a bit. -- Simulcra 06:42, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Didn't know there was an official term. However, your edits were good, though I have tweaked. IMHO, "white flight" is a nasty, POV term, but it has a WP page. I called it simply "urban flight", but linked to that page. This may very well be revertable. I didn't understand the flow later in the para, so I took a stab at rewording what I thought you meant (which, by the way, I don't 100% agree with). -- Gnetwerker 07:03, 19 March 2006 (UTC)== Trendy Third ==

Under attractions, I think there should be a section on both the Pearl district, (the area immediately north of Burnside), and NW 23rd Avenue (referred to sometimes as "Trendy Third"). They are both cultural and entertainment centers of downtown. Most of Downtown Portland's nightlife takes place in the Pearl, and most of Portland's really trendy downtown shops and neighborhoods are near Trendy Third, including restaurants such as Papa Hayden's and Yuki's.
