the code "JRB"

[edit]

do the letters JRB have any significance or explanation?Mang (talk) 04:32, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The code JRB seems to be related to the West 30th Street Heliport, which has a code of JRA. That heliport was the first in NYC, while the Downtown Manhattan Heliport was the city's second heliport. Transpoman (talk) 00:04, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Upon further research, I think that the code prefix "JR" might be related to heliports. JRA was for the West 30th Street Heliport, JRB was for the Downtown Manhattan Heliport, JRC seems to have been for the Rochester Municipal Heliport (in Minnesota), JRD seems to have been for the Riverside Metro Center Heliport (in California), and JRE was for the East 60th Street Heliport. Shut down?

All mentions on the PANYNJ site have been removed, and the carrier that operated there is defunct. -128.61.83.190 (talk) 18:11, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PANYNJ

[edit]

How is there no reference to the Port Authority in the history section? They ran the place for a long time. https://www.rotor.org/membership/rotor/rotorpdf/020.pdf — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.35.140.161 (talk) 02:53, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I expanded the history section to include the original development of the heliport by the PA. I'll plan to further expand the article to include the PA's subsequent involvement with the heliport until they decided not to renew their lease in the mid-2000s and the city found a new operator. - Transpoman (talk) 11:40, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I finished expanding the history section to include the PA's subsequent operation with the heliport through 2008 and also mentioned the involvement of the PA in the lede. Transpoman (talk) 11:57, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
