- -- My only edit to Douglas W. Jones was anonymous, as 128.255.45.57 on 24 December 2008, when I linked this page to Doug Jones, a page I helped convert into a disambiguation page because there are so many of us who share that name. That was about a month before I registered and created a user page for myself.Douglas W. Jones (talk) 04:44, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
- -- Someone listed me in Category:University of Iowa Alumni; that is incorrect, I am a member of the faculty. Following the dictum "if the problem is clear-cut and uncontroversial, you may wish to edit the page yourself" (quoted from Wikipedia:Autobiography), I have made this chang Douglas W. Argument about Deletion
[edit]This article was nominated for deletion on 2006 July 29. The result of the discussion was no consensus. |
Jones is already mentioned on at least one other Wikipedia page, and the fact that he has testified before Congress on several occasions makes him a notable public figure. If the article needs to be rewritten in order to emphasize this significance, I'll be happy to do so; suggestions would be appreciated.
Halfway decent photo
[edit]Someone (not the photographer) uploaded a halfway decent photo of me from 2007 to commons. As far as I know, the license is correct. The photo is halfway decent, so if someone feels that the article needs an illustration, that photo (or a cropped version of it) might be a decent choice Note, however, that the uploader's photo description in commons is in error. I need to dig into my records before I correct the photo description. Douglas W. Jones (talk) 03:42, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
Potential source for more
[edit]I won't use it, but other Wikipedians are welcome to mine this source:
I ended up being one of the 4 randomly selected Douglas Jones's interviewed, the interview contains generic info and answers to random questions not related to issues that merit a Wikipedia entry, but the kind of info that might round out the entry. The article contains enough to prove that one of the Interviewees is me. Douglas W. Jones (talk) 15:30, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
Retirement
[edit]Note: I retired over the summer of 2021. Someone should change my status to emeritus or retired (synonyms, the choice being a matter of style). Source to document this? Try this: The U of Iowa held an event on Oct. 8 2021 (alternate link) to celebrate. Douglas W. Jones (talk) 21:25, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
