connected contributor? & sock or paid editor?

[edit]

There is a user User:Douggold, who has edited Doug Goldstein and various other articles about shows, particularly Devil May Care (TV series), that Goldstein has (co)created. At neither User:Douggold nor User talk:Douggold nor Talk:Doug Goldstein nor Talk:Devil May Care (TV series) the editor has identified themselves as a connected contributor. Additionally, I have a feeling that User:RayGoddamnPurchase may be a sock of another account or paid editor of some kind, because their very first edit is essentially an entire article with an infobox, fairly reliable sources, etc. - and, unless I'm mistaken, they moved their own draft without going through the AfC submission process. For a completely new editor to do all that seems rather unlikely. Maybe either or both editors need to be approached? I don't know, and therefore I'm asking for administrator input. --143.176.30.65 (talk) 00:00, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(Non-administrator comment) Provide more context.
Creating many articles around a certain creator in and of itself is a) not disruptive behavior and b) not indicative of undeclared paid editing or even a conflict of interest. If you think the subject does not meet criteria for a standalone article, go through the deletion process. If you have a concern about the content, open a discussion at article talk and ping the relevant parties. If you have a concern about user behavior instead, go to the user's talk page. If the talk discussions do not resolve the behavior, then you can consider other avenues of dispute resolution.
Similarly, anyone with a decent Internet connection can read Wikipedia help pages before registering. While unlikely, a new user reaching proficiency in wikitext and circumventing Articles for Creation is, to repeat the above, not inherently suspicious or disruptive. Again, content disputes go on the article talk. If you have additional info not disclosed here, you are welcome to follow the instructions at WP:SPI.
I don't know how much more advice anyone can give without more context. Hope it helped nonetheless. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 14:00, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I thought it was pretty self-evident from what I wrote that I believe User:Douggold to be Doug Goldstein, but apparently it's not? I guess that provides the 'more context' that you were looking for... --143.176.30.65 (talk) 17:22, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

For now, let's assume good faith. There are processes in place to handle specific concerns. Go Phightins! 12:00, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
