Emotion

26 December 2018 the entry reads: “However, newer forms of Doubling focus not so much on an abreactive catharsis but more on an integrative catharsis since psychodrama has learned that too much emotion can be re-traumatizing to the client.”

Great to mention the shift in thinking about catharsis— needs a citation. Who has written about this?

Language: psychodrama does not learn. — the citation would help.

Most on my mind is the bit about “too much emotion”. — emotion is part of a role. The thinking- world view and action components can also be a problem. The problem with the strong warm up to roles that include self centeredness, indulgence, blame, violence and coping by scapegoating are the reason there has been a shift. There was a move in that direction, an aberration in the encounter group era.

All IMHO.

Thanks to whoever created this page. It’s great to have this on Wikipedia. Apologies for the repeated quote above. Can’t seem to edit my post
