inventor

[edit]

this article claims Richard A Epstien invented the game; but the Vegas World article claims Bob Stupak did so. There are sources for both, but neither are very good. we need another authoritative source for the inventor of the game, but I haven't found one with a quick web search. --mcpusc (talk) 01:54, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Epstein first proposed the game in the 1977 edition of Gambling and Statistical Logic, but called it zweikartenspiel and did not patent it. Stupak called it Double Exposure and introduced it in his casino in 1979 (the only time I played it). I believe it's mentioned in the Jan. 1980 edition of Stanford Wong's BJ Newsletter, but don't have that handy. I'll add a cite for the book, although it's primary. Note, I have collaborated with Epstein in the past; but wouldn't call it a WP:COI as we haven't spoken in many years. I'll also add one of Snyder's books that discusses the genesis.
