this article needs to be deleted because of several wrong informations.
1st) Dortmund is a city, not a beer 2nd) A Dortmund beer or Dortmunder is a Pilsener brewed in Dortmund .. that's it 3rd) less hops and stronger flavor .. fictious 4th) Dortmund is not Germany's largest beer producer
ok, that should be enough. there is not 1 single sentence which is correct. disrespect to the creator of that article
- 1) Fixed the name w/ the move mentioned below. 2) Dortmunder is distinctly different than a Pilsener. It's higher an alcohol and less hoppy. 3) I changed the description of flavor to compare it to both helles and pilsener--should be more accurate. 4) Not sure on this either, since there's no source cited, I simply removed the reference.Frank 21:42, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Seemed to me unless this is an article about the beer culture in Dortmund rather than the style of beer, it should be on a page named after the style of beer.Frank 21:38, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
"Brewed only in Dortmund"
This is reasonable to assume, and an earlier version of the page explicitly said that by law this was the case, but a citation is necessary in order to show that protected designation of origin appellation laws are actually in place. └ OzLawyer / talk ┐ 15:41, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

- Sorry, you are correct. The earlier version of the page said so. If it's not protected by appellation laws to only Dortmund (or area), then claims that it can only be brewed in Germany are even more specious without evidence. If not protected by law, then there is absolutely no reason why the legitimate use of the name should be limited to Germany. └ OzLawyer / talk ┐ 15:59, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Look, let's not get pedantic. As you pointed out in another conversation, it's "Belgian style" or "in the style of Belgium". The same thing applies here. Mikebe 16:42, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- If that's your argument, then only beer from Dortmund (not just anywhere in Germany) is Dortmunder, and everything else is only "Dortmunder-style". I don't agree though; unless a place-name is protected legally, the name can be used anywhere just as legitimately, without having to qualify it with "-style". The name itself is the style (Dortmunders from Dortmund are just as much "Dortmunder-style" as those from elsewhere). └ OzLawyer / talk ┐ 18:01, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Is there a source for this? My research on Dortmund before the lager revolution has mostly turned up references to Adambier, which is aged for long periods and barley-based. I've collected all of the information I could find on Adambier in the Adambier style page at the Home Brewing Wiki. --Chapka 21:59, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

What about Vienna and Munich style export beers?
There are more export beers in Germany! Maybe the Dortmund style is the oldest, but what bout some general info concerning the amount of alc/hops and the color and taste? The german export beers of today got only few things in common with the original Dortmund export. Cld somebody with more knowledge concerning german beer (and German language) translate and add the info from the german WP?Johnny2323 (talk) 23:37, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
