Structure
[edit]Untitled
[edit]What is going on with the structure of this page? Why is all the biographical text crammed in at the top? There was a more conventionally structured edit buried in the past, but I don't want to revert away any useful changes to get back to it. I'm going to try and make the page conform to wiki style conventions, but if anyone can help then that would be great - as this looks like a big job. Retinalsummer (talk) 08:08, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Response
[edit]I was most pleased to see the above comments. I did the major revision and the clumsy structure is in part, at least, the result of my feeling inadequate to write critically about Richardson's novels. I had hoped that someone who was better qualified to do this would jump in. Anyhow the editing is greatly appreciated and I hope to work further on the page -- but more carefully! Bibliography
[edit]It's not clear as to why the bibliography was cut, even though there's now a useful Worldcat external link? I cannot find any mention, or comment on this change anywhere. I'm thinking of possibly restoring it? Does anyone object? Rwood128 (talk) 13:20, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Importance
[edit]Dorothy Richardson is an underrated novelist and this article needs major improvement. I have upgraded the banners to indicate this. Rwood128 (talk) 16:19, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Pilgrimage split
[edit]The Pilgrimage novel sequence is certainly notable in its own right. I think the article would be improved if the current "Autobiographical novel" section were split out into an article. Charles Matthews (talk) 17:43, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
- Charles Matthews, I have mixed feelings about your suggestion. There should be some discussion of Pilgrimage in this article and the article is still relatively short. I suggest that the section on the novel should be expanded if separated, and if the split is made a section should be added that discusses Pilgrimage. Thanks, and hope that you are able to work on this. Rwood128 (talk) 18:46, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
Certainly I'm proposing to apply WP:SUMMARY, so that an abbreviated discussion would be placed on Dorothy Richardson. It would not be hard to expand the article somewhat, for example from Windows on Modernism: Selected Letters of Dorothy Richardson (1995). The current use of bullet points in discussing Pilgrimage strikes me as awkward, and the section's content, while largely factual, should be reorganised. I think my proposal is an orthodox solution, particularly as the current article cannot be said to read well. Charles Matthews (talk) 05:25, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks. I agree that the use of bullet points is awkward, but it was a first step in trying to improve the article. It's excellent that you plan to work further on this. By the way there is an article (stub) on Pointed Roofs. Shouldn't this perhaps be merged with the new Pilgrimage article? Rwood128 (talk) 11:11, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
There would be a strong case for doing that, next. Charles Matthews (talk) 19:58, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
- Perhaps I'm just being perverse, but Richardson thought of what critics call her "novels" as "chapters" of one novel Pilgrimage, but I know this can create difficulties. Rwood128 (talk) 19:33, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
Photo of Richardson
[edit]I am trying to find a suitable photo of Richardson, and then get help in adding it to the page. I have one possibility, but there might be a copyright problem. Rwood128 (talk) 12:54, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
- There must, [[User:SWinxy|SWinxy], be a portrait of Richardson available but I don't have the expertise, or time available to do much. I will try, later, to do something further. In the meantime, isn't it better to have an image with some connection with DMR?
