Birthplace erroneously stated as "Sculcoates"
[edit]As per her birth certificate, Mackaill was born at 20 Newstead Street, Hull. This is in the area known as "The Dukeries," an adjunct to The Avenues, Kingston upon Hull, as detailed on that page. Sculcoates is nearby, but not the same. I would assume the misattribution is due to the fact that, in 1903, the Registration for the entirety of Hull was named "Sculcoates," so that is what will shown on birth registrations, but as the registration district, not the actual place of birth.
