Birth Name
The article says she was born Roberts, but it also says her birth parents were Meltzer and her step-dad was Roberts. This needs to be fixed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.71.18.57 (talk) 22:54, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Emmys 2001
The Emmys show in 2001 was delayed from September to November due to the 9/11 attacks. The show aired on November 4, 2001, Doris' birthday. Doris won that year for "Everybody Loves Raymond". In her acceptance speech, she said something along the lines of : "What a wonderful gift for my 71st birthday!". Therefore, Doris was born in 1930, and not 1929. I keep changing the date, but it keeps getting changed back. Doris surely did not lie about her age.
Any actress can lie about her age - I thought she was born as early as 1925 because of something I read in People magazine, but I have been forced to conclude for now that this is not the case. All reference materials related to her give 1930 as her year of birth and she would probably not bother to shave just one year off (although you never know). Whoever is changing the year to 1929 is going by IMDb, but IMDb is not always correct!! When she dies we'll probably learn for sure, not to sound creepy or anything.
I'm changing it back to 1930. 216.194.4.2 06:34, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- There's a much simpler way to find out the correct year: See if she was counted in the 1930 Census.--Fallout boy 05:55, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

- Well, since the Census never missed anyone (certainly not in 1930)... All we need now is to add a little bit of synthesis to the original research (along with the hazily remembered acceptance speech) and we'll have something we can't possibly use. - SummerPhD (talk) 01:11, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Doris Marie shocked.jpg
Image:Doris Marie shocked.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Are you sure she is of Russian descent, because her surname is clearly English?
Exactly what I thought109.154.4.246 (talk) 07:10, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
- Chester Roberts was her stepfather, whose surname she adopted,
as the article indicates. But you can never tell with surnames, which can be changed or deceptive. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 00:30, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
Emmy Awards
Per WP:LEAD all sections of an article are to be mentioned in the lead. An arbitrary assertion that "we do not refer to people by their awards" does not override this policy. If you wish to reword the fact that she is an Emmy Award winner in some other way, BvineBoy, feel free. (I suggest you do so here first, since your next revert will be in violation of wp:3rr.) But repeated reverts simply deleting the information is unhelpful in the extreme.μηδείς (talk) 22:01, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- WP:LEAD is only a guideline too. ;-) Anyway, the way the FA Angelina Jolie has it "She has received an Academy Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards." in the second lead sentence. Not as an "Emmy award winning actress" in the first sentence. The first sentence should state their name, birthdate and profession. Mike Allen 22:18, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- I see no problem making this into a separate sentence.μηδείς (talk) 22:22, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
1925 year of birth
I believe I have successfully established that Roberts was born in 1925, not 1930, as per the April 1940 U.S. census at ancestry.com (Year: 1940; Census Place: New York, New York, New York; Roll: T627_2638; Page: 61B; Enumeration District: 31-646), giving address as East 11 Street (Sheet 62A), which, aside from Ann and Doris Green, lists Chester Roberts, Doris's stepfather, as "lodger", so there is no question as to identity.[1]
