Article neutrality

[edit]

This article reads like a brochure or press release. I'm sure that they do fine work, but the article's tone needs to be a bit more neutral. -Rglovejoy 1 August 2006

I concur with the previous comment by Rglovejoy. This article does not appear to be neutral. Maybe someone with a more intimate knowledge of the centre could correct that. Wiki4androo (talk) 01:00, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I work for the Danforth Center. Pbowey (talk) 23:02, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edits Made

[edit]

Edits have been made to remove the press release nature of the work, hopefully to willperdue's approval.Luolong (talk) 03:42, 12 May 2009 (UTC)Luolong[reply]

Much better. Thank you. Wperdue (talk) 04:23, 12 May 2009 (UTC)wperdue[reply]

I feel like this still reads like a mission/history brochure. Jadeddissonance (talk) 18:09, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They're creeping back in again. WP:PEACOCK, WP:WEASEL, and other throw-away fluff makes this article pretty poor. Is this consensus that the prose changes of this edit are not appropriate? DMacks (talk) 21:22, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The peacock terms and fluff are being added at the same time the tags are removed without explanation. This entry is getting worse, not better. Wperdue (talk) 03:19, 25 June 2009 (UTC)wperdue[reply]

I've attempted to remove "fluffy" language with more neutral scientific language. Research has been linked to other science pages when possible, not couched in completely generic terms. -Matt, Sept 25 2009

Link related to CABS is broken (CABS project has ended) and ERAC Institute link is not relevant: it is an Enterprise page, but not related to research at the center. (I work at the center, but do not want to edit the page directly.) 65.254.111.233 (talk) 22:32, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I decided to revert back to how it was before my edits, due to my COI. Having familiarized myself with Wikipedia's policies, I don’t believe I should be making any significant contributions to the page, as I work for the organization. I might just propose some changes to the page in the future. Pbowey (talk) 14:46, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of unnecessary

[edit]

Hi @Mean as custard: I think mostly your edit removed puffery however this one part

The Center's mission is to improve the human condition through plant science: to feed the hungry and improve human health; to preserve and renew the environment; and to enhance the St. Louis region as a world center for plant science.

is just repeating their motto from their website. That part seems ok to leave in. Do you still want it out? Invasive Spices (talk) 18:52, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would leave it out. It is unreferenced and promotional. . . Mean as custard (talk) 21:37, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
