Don Talbot, Toowoomba Historian and Author who is cited in Wikipedia is a different person. FoolesTroupe (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 03:33, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removed important info re-added to again avoid link confusion. FoolesTroupe (talk) 04:25, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Split

[edit]

People keep on deleting the 'Author - a separate person' info, whose name is also linked to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Foolestroupe (talkcontribs) 05:44, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not Notable? National Library of Australia[1]FoolesTroupe (talk) 03:26, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you join the two things together and then tag it as needing a split. If you think the other person is notable then start his article. YellowMonkey (click here to choose Australia's next top model!) 07:03, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Seems to me that if there is another person, author of several books but perhaps not notable enough for his own article, from the same country, then people might assume that the coach is also a local history writer. The clarification that he is not that author is positive information about the coach. I've added it in what I consider a useful way which I hope will keep all parties happy. Not sure about Kotniski's suggested hatnote as it loses the link to the author's books, but I'll leave it to others to decide between the two solutions. PamD (talk) 11:19, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Current hatnote is quite adequate. Please do create an article at Don Talbot (author). If he has written Nationally notable books and is a notable author, surely tehir is reliable information out there on him.--ZayZayEM (talk) 11:29, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to those of you more experienced at this than I who understood properly. It's not yet worth fighting 'speedy delete' on a new page yet (having had one tagged as such within 1 minute of first creating it! - it wastes enormous amounts of my time fighting the ignorant!) - still searching for reliable verifiable documentation. I have also recently been undoing lots of false links pointing to wrong modern persons who also allegedly did notable things several hundred years before they were born... The Don Talbot (author) article has been created and the appropriate hatnote added to the article, so I've removed the hidden comments. ponyo (talk) 18:45, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
