Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Don Sherwood is a noted cartoonist and illustrator whose six-decade career included his creation of the comic strip Dan Flagg, which drew upon Sherwood's own experience as a U.S. Marine and which appeared in 400 newspapers in the 1960s. The strip earned Sherwood a visit with President Lyndon Johnson and interest from Universal Studios in a television series, which was to star Robert Taylor but did not materialize after the escalation of the Vietnam War lessened public interest in military-themed entertainment. Sherwood's subsequent work included the comic-strip versions of The Flintstones and Sergeant Preston of the Yukon, comic books including The Partridge Family and The Phantom, character design work for Hanna-Barbera Productions, and the nostalgia features Return With Us To ... and Dick Clark's Rock Roll and Remember.
