Original OVA

[edit]

Uh, dude, the reason the plot of the original OVA series bears no resemblance to the manga is because it wasn't an adaptation, it was a prequel. (DrZarkov 16:41, 13 May 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Puma Gals.jpg

[edit]

Image:Puma Gals.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Two Volumes?

[edit]

I found what looks like the same thing, but it's spanning six issues. Can anybody explain this? Here's a link. Was it originaly six, and then adapted into two, or something else? --12.206.2.162 (talk) 05:00, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your confusion is due to assuming that "volume" and "issue" are the same. They are, in fact, not.
A "volume" is typically one full run of a series, consisting of multiple issues (or in case of graphic novels and manga, a TPB collection comprised of multiple chapters).
In this case, there are two volumes, each divided into six chapters. Dark Horse Comics published each chapter as a separate issue. --The Fifth Horseman (talk) 18:56, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that makes more sense. Thank you. --12.206.2.162 (talk) 02:12, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Puma Sisters: both organic and android versions

[edit]

A possible small addition to the article, obscure but verified in the author's own writing:

There were both organic and android versions of the twins. Yes, Shirow wrote on this in the original Dominion manga.

In one of the very last scenes, where one of the twins is explaining over a video link of how they'll get away with it all, she mentions that the criminals are using "brain matter from the twins" to form an unjammable communications link.

Again, she refers to the twins in the third person and makes an oblique reference to the twins-and-telepathy meme.

And then next Leona is told that she's lucky to be alive as the Buaku she fought was apparently artificial as well... a copyright symbol was embedded in one of that Buaku's fingerprints that was found at the scene of a battle.

It's obvious that the original idea in the manga was that the three criminals had android duplicates of themselves covering for them while they were undertaking their getaway. One last joke on the Tank Police.

Also, Shirow had mentioned that earlier versions of the twins were genetically engineered commandos, but those are all second-and-third hand references so...

But the vividly illustrated denouement of the twins as androids in the battle on the sand sub caught fans imaginations, and as is noted in the article the common view is that the twins are and always have been machines.

But, as also noted in the article, the continuity shifts a bit from manga to manga and anime to anime... and many things can be explained as the original organic twins having left with Buaku and their android copies being left behind on Earth.. but as again was noted in the article the continuity has also retroactively had the twins as androids all along.

It's no big deal, but it is an interesting side note as to the origins of the twins and perhaps a short mention of the original version of events would be appropriate for the article?

Lede

[edit]

Per MOS:BOLDTITLE the lede should contain the article title bolded. If the article title should be Dominion instead of Dominion: Tank Police then the article should be moved first and then the lede changed. — Strongjam (talk) 13:33, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dominion: Tank Police (anime) & Dominion (manga) - One Article or Two?

[edit]

Fellow Wikipedians, the history of the Dominion: Tank Police (anime) and Dominion (manga) articles indicates that there is some disagreement as to whether Wikipedia should have one article or two articles covering the topic(s), and if one "franchise" article which we should use as the article title.

While I am not overly concerned by the outcome, I think it would be better for us as a community if we were to discuss the matter in the hopes of reaching a consensus here, rather than in edit summaries. I therefore invite such discussion to commence - please add a comment below if you have an opinion either way.

NB: I have asked on an Admin's Talk page for details of any Templates that we should use, and will copy across any that they suggest. - Ryk72 'c.s.n.s.' 05:46, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
