[edit]HE WAS BORN FEBRUARY 1955 AS DOMINIC CABRERA. MESSINGER IS THE NAME OF HIS STEPFATHER MEL. AS A BOY HIS NICKNAME WAS 'PACKY'.
HIS MATERNAL GRANDFATHER WAS OLIVER D. WILLIAMS, WHO WAS THE VERY 1ST AFRICAN-AMERICAN JUDGE ON THE NEW YORK STATE SUPREME COURT.
