Domestic tourism vs. "staycation"
[edit]This article treats the two concepts as the same. I question this, as a trip to St. John's, Newfoundland from Vancouver, British Columbia is domestic tourism (but too long to qualify as a "staycation", as it's not a short trip nor a day trip) while a day trip to Seattle, Washington from Vancouver might be within the "staycation" range (but hopelessly foreign). "Domestic" is a political concept, not a geographical distance. K7L (talk) 15:52, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
- The word "staycation" is commonly used in British English to mean a domestic holiday (see: List of words having different meanings in American and British English (M–Z)#S). A reason for this could be the United Kingdom being a much smaller country than the US or Canada and where a higher proportion holds a valid passport and travels abroad under normal circumstances.
