Dolyna was a jewish shetel from the 1600 appro.

I read but they were no german just jewish (according to my father). I've make a visit last year and people in the conuntry side remember thatv (it is just 60 year ago)

In fact Dolyna was a very old jewish settlement inside a region where there was a big number of jewish towns & villages (from Kiev, Odessa,Slov, Ivano-franki , tchevniki, faticeli, bia-mare, suta-mare, peslow which was the center of the hasidism (renewal of the jewish spirit in the XIX (& begining XX) and part of the galicia.

The Jewish received the right like other European minories to be free, to own land and get full right if they establish settlements in this region from the XVI century.... Therefore, the region (galica) was covers by villages having each a specific community (german, hungarian, autrian, slave, christian, anabatist, jewish, ..).

Dolyna was a jewish village (market place) identified as such before the XIV century in the diaposra museum of jerusalem.

Please do not change the history even if there is no more grave (all are under the soccer stadium) . The place of these minorities and their history are very important to understand the region , the way of life, the conflict and also from were people was coming from because same settlements exist in both side of the carpatian (Roumania). On this side you have siget where Elie Weizel born (and the village making the link both side is already name Yavne !!).

There is a lot of books (albert londre (le juif errant)and older decribing this part of Europe and also through the history of pogroms (ask why the city burn twice). That the reason Arthur koestler write is book http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thirteenth_Tribe because he is strange to see such number of jewsih settlement and unity of way of life between, turkish/ slavic/cristian empire. I thing that the forest and the border allow them to go from on side to a other.

Even if there is no more jewish, nobody have destroyed the jewish houses of the old village located on the hill . Do not avoid also to mention that Dolyna was one of the largest Ukrainian Oil Field (Ukrainia was a major oil producer after 1945). That was one of access to oil covet by the german during the 2WW.

Location of Dolina

Something doesn't make sense. I Googled Dolina and came up with a map showing it in south central Austria at the Slovenian border. Does anyone have any idea about the correct location? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.253.141.210 (talk) 19:05, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
