Pending Deletion
[edit]I seriously do not see how this proposal for deletion is relevent. DAPG is a legitimate and well-established environmental group in South Africa. DAPG is not a product or a thing. Please remove your claim over any text emanating from the DAPG website and carried by Enviropedia. Please see Fair UseEthnopunk (talk) 16:48, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- It is an organization. Please read WP:NOBLECAUSE. -- Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 17:18, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Still don't see your point - if it was about starving humans in Rwanda, you would support the non-profit organisation? There is only one Dolphin Action & Protection group. The group is notable, since South Africa was once a whaling nation. Through the persistant efforts of its founder, Nan Rice, South Africa is now one of the nations which no longe whales. South Africa has an enourmous oceanic habitat covering the Southern Ocean, where its base in Antarctica etc etc, guess this should all be in the damn article. Ethnopunk (talk) 17:23, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- The point is that just because an organization supports starving children in Rwanda does not mean that the organization meets our notability guidelines. The organization itself must be the subject of reliable third-party coverage. And yes, stating that money for a given cause should go through a given organization is, per our definition of spam, promotion for said organization, regardless how noble the cause is. -- Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 17:36, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
And you might as well know, that I am probably having this damn conversation, because of my closeness to the subject matter and my stand against apartheid based upon the environment. So maybe I am not the best person to be writing such an article!!!Ethnopunk (talk) 17:27, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- I see nothing that would warrant deletion or NPOV violation with this article in its current form. Consensus has been reached, so tags removed. Good luck to you Ethnopunk Chazella (talk) 12:06, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Adding references
[edit]As one might expect, references from reliable third-party sources exist. I added one from USA Today. See this search for more. Eastmain (talk • contribs) 19:21, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- And I edited the article so that it would be less promotional. Eastmain (talk • contribs) 19:27, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- I did find this page, and it made me wonder whether we should be creating an article about Nan Rice and redirect this one to it. All search results are like, Nan Rice, of DAPG, said... -- Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 23:38, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Nan Rice is a legend, but I think she would want the DAPG to come first, and be the main article. Feel free to contibute an article about the person responsible for the 1979 Save the Whales campaignEthnopunk (talk) 10:03, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, Nan Rice doesn't have a say in this matter. We're talking about an encyclopedia entry here, not a home page for the organization. -- Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 18:00, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- So you're saying any article about The Beatles should really be an article about John Lennon?Ethnopunk (talk) 11:07, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
