WP:OVERLINKING and amateur taxonomy
[edit]An IP editor has been repeatedly restoring the same problematic edits.
Per WP:OVERLINK, these links (for example, veternarian, squirrel, tiger, stockings, etc.) are words "words understood by most readers in context" and should not be linked. If a reader is not familiar with these common terms, linking to them will not help them understand the article
Additionally, here and elsewhere, the editor is fond of amateur taxonomy. In the film, we have a macaw, a gorilla, a dragon, etc. The film does not indicate and independent sources do not discuss them being a blue and gold macaw, a mountain gorilla, a European dragon, etc. Instead, this is both trivial to the story and unsourced.
I have asked the editor to discuss the issues. They have not done so. If they continue to make these additions without first discussing the issue, they will be blocked from editing. - SummerPhDv2.0 21:33, 25 January 2020 (UTC)
- The anonymous contributor was the one who added the common links. I was just trying to fix the links to describe each of the animal types. --Rtkat3 (talk) 03:53, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
Production Details? Animal Use?
[edit]I would be curious to see some more details about the seeming use of live animals in the film. Were they trained and acting, or was their performance digitally inserted? Doolittle's scene of wrestling with Barry the tiger in particular, and then the gorilla / tiger combat would be challenging to script and film as it appeared. It would add value to the article to know how it was done. --Eliyahu S Talk 21:08, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
"Box office"
[edit]As with any film either already in theaters or just released --- whether in just the U.S. &/or worldwide --- the box office is going to be negatively greatly affected due to the Coronavirus hype, panic, paranoia, etc. cutting theater show dates short or even cancelling.
As such, there should be great thought given as to "labeling" any movie as a "box office bomb" or with any such negative financial performance wording. 2600:8800:784:8F00:C23F:D5FF:FEC4:D51D (talk) 01:40, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
